Cristiano Ronaldo provisionally suspended by Portugal after walkout
Cristiano Ronaldo has been provisionally suspended by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) after he walked out on the Portugal national team camp. The FPF said it opened urgent disciplinary proceedings against the 41-year-old, meaning Ronaldo is suspended pending a final decision on punishment. The dispute stems from Nations League matches: Ronaldo left the squad after being warmed up as a substitute against Norway on September 27 but not used, and later learning he would not start against Denmark on October 1. Portuguese media note federation rules can mean one to six months’ suspension for missing training or national-team activity. Ronaldo said he would accept any penalty and later returned to club action with Al Nassr, scoring in a 3-0 win over Diriyah for his 980th career goal.
