Debuts At The Monaco Yacht Show
GX Superyachts made its world debut in Monaco with the GX42, a 140-foot yacht designed to rethink propulsion, energy management and comfort in the superyacht segment. The design is credited to Marco Casali with naval architecture and engineering input from NAMES, and GX founder/CEO Vladimir Zinchenko frames the project around an efficiency-first philosophy integrated from the start. The GX42’s centerpiece is a parallel diesel-electric hybrid system using two MAN main engines and hybrid shaft lines, maintaining a mechanical connection between engines and propeller shafts while also enabling electric operation. The yacht carries about 938 kWh of lithium iron phosphate batteries (24 modules of about 39.1 kWh) and includes up to 27 kWp of photovoltaic generation. GX says the setup can support as much as 48 hours of zero-emission operation at anchor and can cut onboard electricity consumption by up to 45%.
