Dick's Sporting Goods rival is closing 59 stores across 23 states after bankruptcy
West Marine, the nation’s leading marine retailer, is closing 59 stores across 23 states as part of Chapter 11 restructuring. The Florida-based chain filed for bankruptcy in May after debt tied to long-term leases strained liquidity. The closures reflect an effort to align the store footprint with the company’s current needs, while continuing to evaluate its portfolio.
Liquidation discounts begin at up to 40% at Spokane, with savings expected to grow weekly through September. The company provided a list of shuttered locations across several states, including Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana and Massachusetts. It said it would support affected crew members and continue serving customers at remaining stores, online, and through the West Marine Pro App.
