Two men from northeast Iowa identified as drowning victims following a boating collision in the Mississippi River near Dubuque. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources said the victims were Wayne Ameskamp, 62, of Dyersville, and Michael Donahue, 61, of Bellevue. A third passenger, Sharon Ameskamp, 62, also of Dyersville, was ejected when a 16-foot fishing boat struck an object. She was able to swim to the east shore of the slough and was rescued by passing boaters. The incident occurred at about 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, in Molo Slough in Pool 12 of the Mississippi River. Responders included Iowa DNR Conservation Officers, Dubuque County Sheriff’s deputies, and fire and conservation personnel from multiple agencies. The case remains under investigation.
