Estepona new fishing boat roundabout

Estepona is replacing a weathered wooden fishing boat that has long sat in the middle of a roundabout on Avenida Puerta del Mar. The town hall has opened a public tender for €68,970 (including VAT) to source, restore and install a traditional Mediterranean purse-seine vessel. Bids are due by August 24 via the official government portal. The boat must be real and seaworthy, typically 11 to 13 metres long and 3 to 4 metres wide, with a hull of timber or fibreglass while keeping its original wheelhouse. The contractor must sand, rust-treat and paint it, and preserve its historical name. Locals have reacted online with mixed views.
