Fall fishing picks up as temperatures ease
Cooler weather is shifting fishing conditions across North Texas lakes, according to recent lake-level updates and guidance from local sources. At Tawakoni, the lake was 91.5% full on Oct. 8, about 2.05 feet below conservation pool, with automated reports rating conditions fair and best opportunities around dawn and dusk. Catfish anglers can use punch bait or cut shad in deeper water, while white bass anglers should target main-lake points and humps with slabs and inline spinners. Cooper Lake was 4.9 feet below normal pool on Oct. 7. Recommendations emphasize points, humps, and creek channels for white bass and hybrids. Similar seasonal patterns were suggested for Lavon, Ray Hubbard, Bois d’Arc, Fork, and Cedar Creek, though firsthand guide reports were limited.
