FBI Visits Dan J. Sullivan Donor In Candidate's Home Town As Alaska Senate Inquiry Widens
The FBI began contacting donors to Alaska U.S. Senate candidate Dan J. Sullivan after confirming a criminal investigation tied to potential voter deception and confusion because Sullivan shares a name with the incumbent Republican senator. An Anchorage-based FBI agent visited Charles Flint, a longtime acquaintance of Sullivan, at a boat dealership in Petersburg, a small fishing community accessible only by air or water. Flint said the agent asked his son whether Flint felt misled about which candidate he supported. U.S. Attorney Michael Heyman said enforcement activity surged following New York Times reporting about the campaign recruiting a retired teacher named Dan J. Sullivan. Meanwhile, Democrat Mary Peltola denied involvement, calling allegations a smear ahead of Tuesday’s ranked-choice election.
