Firefighters tackle blaze underneath 'glorious old oak tree' after it uprooted

Firefighters tackled a smouldering fire underneath a “glorious old oak tree” after the tree was uprooted in a storm. The oak fell overnight on October 26/27 in Abbey Park in Pershore and partially blocked the nearby Abbey Road. The incident resurfaced the following evening, when crews were called to a fire under the tree’s roots. A spokesperson for Pershore Fire Station said crews found a smouldering blaze and extinguished it quickly using one hose reel jet and a shovel. The callout took place at 10.27pm, according to the report.
