FISHING: International bass anglers casting for world championship | Arkansas Democrat Gazette
The Black Bass World Championship runs Friday through Sunday on Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs, Arkansas, featuring teams from 23 nations and underscoring how bass fishing has become an international event. International competitors met the public last Saturday at Bass Pro Shops in Little Rock, where several players said they were impressed by the U.S. tackle and retail selection. Among them, Namibia captain Jurgen Geiger described taking teammates to Buc-ees and Bass Pro Shops in both Little Rock and Memphis. Namibia’s team brings bass lakes with Florida-strain largemouths and no grass habitat, which Geiger says matches parts of Lake Hamilton’s conditions. He expects styles including drop-shot finesse, 1-ounce jigs, and possibly topwater to matter. The tournament’s wild card remains unclear in the report.
