Flipped! 2027 Penn State CB Commit Switches Pledge to West Virginia
West Virginia's 2027 class landed a major flip as cornerback Zachary Gleason Jr., listed at 6'0", 170 pounds, decommitted from Penn State to commit to WVU. WVU head coach Rich Rodriguez and defensive coordinator Zac Alley are likely celebrating the move. Gleason drew offers from Boston College, Cal, Cincinnati, Indiana, Kentucky, Liberty, Michigan State, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Pitt, Rutgers, SMU, Stanford, Syracuse, UConn, USF, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin, among others. The Pittsburgh Central Catholic product posted 28 tackles, three interceptions, four tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble, and a blocked punt as a junior. Scouting reports describe Gleason as playing bigger than his frame and thriving in press-man coverage with disciplined aggression that allows big hits without getting beat. In the run game, he's fearless and sure-tackling in space, with potential to contribute on kickoffs and as a punt gunner. While immediate starting duties are unlikely for a true freshman, the blend of speed and physicality suggests a path to a multi-year starter and possible all-conference honors. He joins WVU's 2027 class alongside Andre Phillip II, Bryian Duncan, Lee Prince Jr., Carter Davis, Roscoe Hayes, and Carter Bonner, among others.
