Former Employee Says Ocean Ramsey Grabbed Her Underwater and Made Her Keep Diving
Ocean Ramsey, the Hawaii freediver known for videos swimming with great white sharks, is denying allegations of bullying and abuse involving employees of her shark tour company, One Ocean Diving. Several former workers told Dexerto and People that they faced unpaid training, were yelled at, and were physically intimidated, with one account saying Ramsey grabbed a trainee underwater and forced her to continue beyond her breath-hold limit. The company, run by Ramsey and her husband Juan Oliphant, operates in Oahu. Reported claims also include long daily hours without pay, a 30-day “challenge,” and signing a nondisclosure and three-year noncompete agreement after six months. Ramsey said any physical contact was for safety and rejected claims she slapped or hit staff. Additional accusations referenced include threats tied to noncompetes and constant video surveillance.
