Gabriel Alfaro Reels in 10.1 Pounds of Fish to Win Annual Youth Fishing Tournament

Gabriel Alfaro's 10.1-pound catch at Lums Pond earned him the overall title in the Delaware Youth Fishing Tournament, held June 6 at three sites across the state. Weighmasters at Blockhouse Pond, Akridge Scout Reservation, and Lums Pond tallied top catches for ages 4 through 15. Alfaro, from Newark, claimed the day's best total.

New Castle County's winner was Alfaro with 10.1 pounds at Lums Pond. The largest fish was a 4.14-pound northern snakehead caught by Olivia Strong, while the smallest were 11-gram bluegill and 11-gram white perch. Kent County's Kaylee Shockley collected 8.58 pounds at Akridge Scout Reservation; Sussex's winner was Jaxon Betal with 9.22 pounds at Blockhouse Pond.
