Gulf Fisherman Nearly Gets Stabbed In The Throat When Marlin Comes Flying Into The Boat
xCruzo Brief
A sportfishing crew in the Gulf of Mexico, off the coast of Alabama, captured a close call on video while reeling in a blue marlin. The fish was already hooked and nearing the boat when it suddenly launched out of the water, driving its pointed bill into a man seated at the rod. The impact knocked him to the ground, but the bill did not pierce him, passing beneath his chin and sending his headphones flying. The marlin quickly flopped back overboard. The incident highlights how billfish like marlin and swordfish can become dangerous during landing. A similar fatal case occurred in 2015 off Hawaii.
