Hear plea by journalist who reported on Ram temple 'theft' against Ghaziabad FIR

The Supreme Court agreed on Tuesday to hear a plea by journalist Abhishek Upadhyay after Ghaziabad police lodged an FIR against him tied to an alleged road rage incident. The matter was listed before Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V. Mohana, with the bench scheduling the hearing pending defects being cured in the petition. Upadhyay, who runs a YouTube channel, argued multiple FIRs exist and that a new case under stringent SC/ST Act provisions followed police raids on August 20. He said the FIR copy wasn’t supplied and that officers allegedly pressured nearby shopkeepers to delete CCTV footage. He asked for quashing or transfer of investigation to an independent agency.
