Horner returns to F1 paddock a year after sacking
Christian Horner returned to the Formula One paddock on Sunday at the British Grand Prix, a year after being sacked as Red Bull team boss. The 52-year-old said a full comeback would depend on whether he could be in a position to “win,” after he stepped away when Laurent Mekies replaced him on July 9 last year. Horner was invited back by FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem and F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali at Silverstone. He confirmed his “gardening leave” has ended and described himself as a free agent. Horner led Red Bull for 20 years, delivering eight drivers’ world titles and six constructors’ crowns, including four each with Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen. Last year, an investigation found him cleared after a female employee accused him of inappropriate behaviour.
