How did 49ers' offensive line shut down Myles Garrett in Rams debut?

San Francisco’s offensive line limited Myles Garrett in the 49ers’ 27-7 season-opening win over the Los Angeles Rams at Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday morning. Garrett, the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year and a major Rams acquisition from Cleveland, finished without sacks, quarterback hits, or tackles over 40 defensive snaps, effectively getting shut out. After the game, Garrett acknowledged he played through knee pain. Trent Williams said there wasn’t much of a stat line to know, adding that Garrett was still “hard to block.” Right tackle Colton McKivitz went 8-for-8 in matchups and said the ball was quickly out. Brock Purdy was not sacked, completing 25 of 34 passes for 205 yards and three touchdowns.
