Indonesian rescuers search for missing speedboat with 11 European tourists and 2 local crew members

Indonesian rescuers are searching for a speedboat that went missing off Sulawesi after carrying 11 European tourists and two Indonesian crew members, officials said. The boat departed Tanjung Unauna in Gorontalo province on Friday morning, heading to Marisa Port in the neighboring Gorontalo province, but it did not arrive. A local tour guide reported the vessel missing at 3:40 p.m. Friday, prompting an overnight search that has yet to find signs of the passengers or crew. Heriyanto, head of the Gorontalo Province Search and Rescue Office, said dozens of teams are covering about 300 square nautical miles around Tomini Bay. The search uses a thermal-imaging drone and diving equipment amid strong winds and waves up to 2.5 meters.
