Injured fisherman rescued off Cornish coast in gale-force winds
A lifeboat crew from Falmouth rescued an injured fisherman aboard a French fishing vessel in gale-force winds on Friday, October 23, the RNLI said. The all-weather lifeboat Decibel Too was alerted shortly after 8:20am after HM Coastguard received reports of an injured crew member on a 21-metre vessel seven nautical miles south-east of Zone Point off St Anthony Head. Shannon class volunteers left Port Pendennis Marina at 8:40am and arrived on scene at 9:18am. Two qualified casualty care crew members boarded to assess a dislocated knee, transferred the man to the lifeboat, and returned to the station by 10:30am. He was taken to a minor injury unit and the fishing vessel continued at sea. Conditions included force 7 to gale-force 8 north-westerly winds with moderate seas, requiring a move to a more sheltered part of Falmouth Bay before boarding.
