Major CTA track work disrupts Loop 'L' service this weekend. What to know
Major track work on Chicago Transit Authority’s elevated “L” service in the Loop will disrupt rides this weekend, with elevated trains not running in the Loop on the Brown, Green, Orange and Pink lines. The interruption starts at 4 a.m. Saturday and continues until 2 a.m. Monday. In total, 11 “L” stations are affected. The CTA says maintenance is required at the Tower 18 rail junction at Lake and Wells, a key interlocking that needs scheduled upkeep about once every decade. Service changes vary by line: Pink trains reroute after Polk and won’t enter the Loop; Brown runs only between Kimball and Merchandise Mart; Orange runs between Midway Airport and Roosevelt; Green runs between Harlem/Lake and Clinton with shuttles replacing trips between Clinton and Roosevelt.
