Islam Makhachev reels in shark ahead of UFC 330 title fight

Islam Makhachev is bringing more than fight preparation to UFC 330. Ahead of his maiden welterweight title defense on Aug. 15 against Ian Garry (17-1), the 28-1 Russian has been training on the East Coast with New Jersey serving as his base. He’s done two training camps there, including last year’s camp in Jersey ahead of his welterweight title-winning effort against Jack Della Maddalena in New York. In UFC’s “Embedded” on YouTube, Makhachev and teammates fish by the coastline, where he ultimately reels in a shark—leading to a joking complaint that he’ll have to train the next day after being tested.
