xCruzo Brief
A Kentucky angler, Matt Robertson, won the inaugural World Bass Enterprises Champions Tournament on Old Hickory Lake and the Cumberland River with a three-day total that paid out $1.25 million. The event ran from Oct. 29 to Oct. 31, and Robertson secured the win by weighing a 20-pound, 2-ounce bag on the final day. He returned Oct. 31 to a strategy based on fishing for smallmouth bass below the Old Hickory lock after maintenance threatened to prevent access. Pake South of Winnsboro, Texas, finished second with 13 pounds, 7 ounces for $500,000, while Wesley Strader of Spring City, Tennessee, was third with 11 pounds, 2 ounces for $200,000.
