Land of the Giants Fishing Report by Living Water Guides, June 2026
Living Water Guides’ June 22, 2026 update focuses on the Missouri River’s “Land of the Giants” stretch, translated from Jeff Lattig. The report says Hauser Dam is releasing a steady 3,000 CFS, described as a favorable flow, while water temperatures are around 54°F. The guide expects strong activity from Pale Morning Duns (PMDs), especially with dry-fly fishing after mornings when nymphs are preferred near the bottom. For Upper and Lower Holter Reservoirs, Callibaetis mayflies are reportedly emerging in late mornings, with a short dry-fly window and guidance to fish weed beds and depth transitions using patterns such as Chubby Chernobyl, Adams, or spinner styles. Northern pike are presented as a “wildcard,” moving off shallow weed beds toward deeper areas near drop-offs. Access is described as jet-boats only, launched from Gates of the Mountains Marina.
