Maritime State Development Council adopts targets for 2030, 2047; sets March 2027 deadline for 'One Nation One Port Process' reforms
India’s 21st Maritime State Development Council (MSDC) meeting concluded in Mumbai with new targets for 2030 and 2047 and a March 2027 deadline for port reform under the “One Nation One Port Process.” Chaired by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, the session—made a statutory consultative body under the Indian Ports Act, 2025—adopted targets under Maritime India Vision 2030 and Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, covering more than 500 initiatives spanning ports, shipping, inland waterways, shipbuilding, green shipping and international collaboration. States were urged to prepare port master plans beyond major ports and align multimodal connectivity projects. The council also approved draft MSDC regulations on port data and tariff transparency and called on states to notify subordinate rules within three months.
