Maryland Fishing Report - October 8
Maryland’s fishing conditions are trending cooler as October progresses, with the fall trout stocking program beginning and most fish showing increased activity. Main Bay and river-mouth water temperatures have fallen to the upper 60s, while smaller rivers and streams are in the low to mid 60s and are expected to keep dropping. Bay bottom waters still have adequate oxygen, but continued dry conditions are keeping salinities higher than normal across Maryland waters. Tidal currents are projected to be above average all week due to the new moon on October 10. For striped bass, anglers are reporting better results in shallow shorelines of the upper Bay and lower tidal rivers, using poppers, paddletails in water shallower than 10 feet, and soft plastic jigs around channel edges.
