Michigan's Free Fishing Weekend is this weekend -- here's what to know

Michigan's Summer Free Fishing Weekend runs June 13 and 14, offering license fees waived for all anglers. The initiative applies to inland waters and the Great Lakes, and extends to out-of-state visitors during the two-day event. This year it is part of the 'Three Free' weekend that also offers free state parks and ORV trails. Anglers are reminded that all fishing regulations remain in effect and should check local rules before casting. Last year, more than three million fish were caught, led by walleye and yellow perch, with Lake Huron showing the most activity ahead of Lake Michigan.
