Myles Garrett admitted after the Los Angeles Rams’ 27-7 season-opening loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Australia that his knee injury is more serious than he had suggested. Garrett, the reigning AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year, recorded zero tackles and had no measurable impact in the Melbourne Cricket Ground game. The pass rusher missed significant time in training camp and the Rams’ practices to rest the knee, but neither he nor the team had ruled out playing at full capability. Before flying back to Los Angeles, he said, “This was the worst version of myself,” and that he needs to recover and “get back” to his usual level. The Rams also struggled offensively with Matthew Stafford going 15 of 25 for 155 yards and an interception.
