UVI's magazine unveils book celebrating life of V.I. maritime hero Bomba Allick

CROIX — The University of the Virgin Islands Great Hall hosted the launch of BOMBA: The Story of a Virgin Islands Hero, a biography of Wilfred Elisha Allick Sr., known as Bomba. Written by Myron A. Allick, the book chronicles a mariner who ferried supplies across the Caribbean for VICORP and survived the 1932 San Eusebio hurricane voyage before dying in 1974. The event featured live steelpan music, remarks from community leaders, and a morning poem by Geron Richards. Attendees included Beatrice Pemberton and Laurissa D. Ellis, celebrating a seafaring legacy that continues to inspire island pride.
