Ministry proposes facilitating customs clearance to boost lychee exports
The Ministry of Industry and Trade has proposed measures to streamline the procurement, customs clearance, and export of lychees during peak season. Under Document 600/XNK-NH, authorities were instructed to prioritise rapid clearance of fresh lychee shipments due to their perishable nature and to allocate sufficient personnel and equipment for inspections. The ministry also called for closer coordination with China on quarantine, traceability, and quality requirements, and for regular updates on border gate conditions to avoid congestion. For Bắc Ninh and Hải Phòng, it recommended increased communication with Chinese partners to regulate delivery schedules and to diversify transport modes, including rail and air, to relieve pressure on land crossings. It urged coordination for lychee purchases in growing areas to prevent unfair competition, price manipulation, or disorder during harvest. In addition to export support, the ministry promoted trade promotion and expanded lychee consumption through domestic and international distribution systems, e-commerce platforms, and potential export markets. Businesses, cooperatives, and packaging facilities should improve product quality to meet importing markets’ requirements on traceability, food safety, packaging, and technical standards. This year’s support aims to boost agricultural export growth amid rising demand and evolving technical requirements.
