DeChambeau, Howell, Vincent Out Front After Round 1 Of LIV Golf Korea
Bryson DeChambeau and Charles Howell III shared the early lead in LIV Golf Korea after the first round at Asiad Country Club, returning to Korea for the second year. They posted 5-under 65 to join Scott Vincent of HyFlyers GC, who also shot 65, atop the leaderboard. Three players were tied for fourth at 4-under: Joaquin Niemann, Ian Poulter, and Thomas Pieters. Four more players stood at 3-under in a tie for seventh: Cameron Smith, Sergio Garcia, Charl Schwartzel, and Laurie Canter. Home favorites Korean Golf Club delivered solid scores, with Younghan Song and Doyeob Mun shooting 68 to sit 11th as the team stood 3-under in fifth.
DeChambeau led for most of the round with six birdies in the first ten holes, but bogeys at the 13th and 15th halted his momentum. Howell opened with an eagle from 108 yards on the second and said team success feels rewarding even as he pursues individual results. Vincent delivered the day’s only bogey-free round, continuing a recent upturn after moving from Wild Card to HyFlyers. He now shares the LIV Golf Korea lead for the first time after any round, alongside DeChambeau and Howell, as the event unfolds at Asiad.
