Mounties credit Good Samaritans for saving capsized kayaker on Little Shuswap Lake

RCMP in Chase credit Good Samaritans for saving a kayaker who capsized on Little Shuswap Lake after about an hour in cold water. Officers responded to a 911 call around 5 p.m. on May 11, meeting the caller on Lakeshore Drive and coordinating a rescue with a nearby resident who lent a boat. The kayaker was found clinging to a partially submerged craft, wearing hiking boots and jeans, and had been in the water for about 30 minutes before being pulled to shore. Paramedics assessed him on scene, and BC Emergency Health Services and Chase Fire Rescue assisted. The man said he had been fishing when he stood up and capsized.
