More than a month after Super Typhoon Sinlaku, Smiling Cove Marina still hosts grounded fishing vessels. Contractors are dredging the storm-altered channel to restore safe passage for recreational boats and commercial vessels. Over the past week, crews removed sand shifted by the surge, narrowing the marina channel and complicating navigation.

The dredging is part of efforts to stabilize harbor operations disrupted by Sinlaku's impact. DLNR Secretary Sylvain Igisomar said that an official statement would be issued through the governor's office, and that coordination continues with contractors and harbor users. Sinlaku caused extensive coastal damage across Saipan, Tinian and Rota, with harbors among the hardest-hit areas still in recovery.
