One missing after fishing boat carrying 10 capsizes near Phú Quý Island

One person is missing after a fishing boat carrying 10 workers capsized about 2 km off Phú Quý Island in southern Việt Nam early Tuesday, authorities said. The Phú Quý Special Administrative Zone reported that search and rescue teams, aided by local fishermen, are looking for Ngô Đình Xuân, 35, who became trapped inside the vessel after it overturned. The 22-metre boat is powered by a 650-horsepower engine and was captained by Ngô Văn Thăng, also 35, from Mỹ Khê Village. The crew was fishing around Phú Quý Island with purse-seine nets and was returning to Bãi Phủ beach in Triều Dương Village when the boat suddenly listed and flooded rapidly. Nine crew members were rescued safely.
