Palmer and Rice among 5 players ruled out of England matches in Nations League

Cole Palmer has been ruled out of England’s upcoming Nations League matches due to injury, along with four other players, the national team said Monday. The absences include Marcus Rashford, Declan Rice, Tino Livramento and Kobbie Mainoo. England will face world champions Spain, Croatia and the Czech Republic (twice) with only two replacements called up: Everton midfielder James Garner and Nottingham Forest playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White. The withdrawal denies Palmer a chance to impress new coach Thomas Tuchel again after a World Cup snub. Tuchel had said Palmer would have “a point to prove” after his recall.
