Penn State football, Matt Campbell name team captains vs Marshall

Penn State will name captains on a game-by-game basis this season, and coach Matt Campbell announced the leaders for Saturday’s season opener against Marshall at Beaver Stadium in a “Stripe Out.” The Nittany Lions’ captains are quarterback Rocco Becht, offensive lineman Anthony Donkoh, linebacker Kooper Ebel and long snapper Blaise Sokach-Minnick. Becht and Ebel are Iowa State transfers who joined Campbell’s staff from Ames. Donkoh, a long-time starter, is expected to shift to right tackle after working mostly at guard earlier at Penn State, while Sokach-Minnick takes over snapping duties this year. Becht has 39 career starts and 26 wins. Former Penn State kicker Robbie Gould will serve as honorary captain. Campbell said earlier the team was still finalizing captains.
