Port Dover filmmaker part of team in search of pirate ships

A Port Dover-based filmmaker identified as Atkins is part of a Bahamas pirate-ship expedition team aiming to dive in Nassau Harbour, Bahamas, after years of development. He recalls his first paid camera assignment in 1991, accompanying Mike Fletcher aboard his boat when they first discovered the steamship Atlantic off Long Point, an experience that cemented his passion for shipwreck exploration. During the COVID years, Atkins connected with marine archaeologist Dr. Sean Kingsley, founder of Wreckwatch, and pitched the idea of filming for Wreckwatch magazine, which led to the creation of Wreckwatch TV. The Bahamas project has been years in the making as Atkins and Kingsley assemble the expedition.
