President Trump salutes England captain Kane after Mexico win
President Trump saluted England captain Kane after England beat Mexico 3-2 to reach the World Cup quarter-finals. Kane, who plays for Bayern Munich, scored his tournament’s sixth goal by converting a second-half penalty in the 60th minute at Estadio Azteca. The result came after Jude Bellingham struck twice within 98 seconds before half-time, with Julian Quinones cutting the deficit before the break. Raul Jimenez levelled briefly by scoring from the spot, but England ultimately sealed the win. England booked a quarter-final date with Norway despite playing with 10 men after Jarell Quansah was sent off after 54 minutes. Trump’s White House account praised Kane on social media. Kane remains one goal behind the Golden Boot pace set by Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.
