President Cyril Ramaphosa extended the commission’s deadline for its final report from August 31 to November 16, 2026, following earlier indications that additional time might be granted. The Presidency announced the change via a media statement delivered on Thursday, specifying that Monday, 16 November 2026 would become the report submission date instead of the originally anticipated deadline. It also set a new evidence cutoff of Friday, 2 October 2026, to allow the commission to close topics opened during hearings. The Madlanga Commission, led by Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga, said it entered discussions with the Presidency amid pressure to complete the probe. Spokesperson Vincent Magwenya said the extension would enable the commission to hear evidence on all matters in its terms of reference.
