Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan says his biggest ambition isn’t additional personal milestones, but winning a Cricket World Cup for his country. The 27-year-old, already a leading T20 wicket-taker with more than 700 wickets and accolades including being named the ICC Men’s T20I Player of the Decade, told Hindustan Times that awards matter less than the team goal. Afghanistan’s progress over the last decade has been notable, including a strong 2023 ODI World Cup where they upset England and also beat Pakistan and Sri Lanka, before missing the semis. In the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup, they again reached the semis, losing to South Africa.
