Report: Warriors interested in trading for Anthony Davis
The Golden State Warriors are exploring a potential trade for Washington Wizards forward Anthony Davis, Kevin O’Connor reported Sunday. Davis, 33, was acquired by Washington in a February deal that sent Jaden Hardy, D’Angelo Russell and Dante Exum to the Wizards in exchange for Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson, Marvin Bagley III, Malachi Branham, three second-round picks and two first-round picks. Any package involving Davis for Golden State would need to include Jimmy Butler II’s contract, according to the report. Butler will turn 37 at the start of the 2026-27 season and is about four months removed from right-knee ACL surgery, with $56.8 million due in 2026-27; he becomes a free agent after that season. Davis missed last season’s games for Washington due to a ligament tear in his left hand. ESPN has suggested Davis and LeBron James would require a “package deal,” making James contingent on Davis being sent to Golden State. The Warriors have three tradeable first-round picks, though protection limits unprotected years.
