Republican Licks Chops Over Impeaching Pete Hegseth Under 1 Condition
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) said he will reintroduce impeachment articles against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth when Congress returns, but only if Hegseth remains in his post. Massie’s proposal, introduced last month, alleged Hegseth waged war against Iran without congressional approval while no imminent threat existed, and that he violated laws aimed at limiting civilian casualties. It also accused the secretary of launching unauthorized lethal strikes on suspected drug-smuggling boats. Massie, a Trump-opposed lame-duck lawmaker who lost his primary, amplified the push on X, referencing an exchange about whether impeachment would be brought back. Democrats have indicated they want Hegseth to leave, but the Pentagon called it “beltway gossip.”
