Rescue boats sent to collect migrant dinghy which has spent 30 hours at sea

A migrant dinghy in the English Channel has been at sea for about 30 hours, prompting rescue operations. The boat left the Normandy coast on Monday morning and was being shadowed by a French coastguard vessel. The UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency said UK rescue vessels, supported by an HM Coastguard plane, are collecting those onboard for transfer to the Border Security Command. Two RNLI lifeboats are believed to be heading to the area near the Channel boundary line, with ship tracking suggesting it departed close to Vierville-sur-Mer, west of Bayeux. Five people later reached Folkestone, the first undetected landing for a year.
