Revisiting Seahawks' trades for Leonard Williams, Ernest Jones IV: Stars powered Seattle's Super Bowl D - CBS Sports
Ahead of the Seahawks’ “Sunday Night Football” matchup with the Chiefs, CBS Sports revisited how Seattle acquired defensive lineman Leonard Williams and linebacker Ernest Jones IV through two trades tied to Mike Macdonald’s defensive overhaul. The first came Oct. 30, 2023: Seattle received Williams from the Giants, while New York took a 2024 second-round pick (S Tyler Nubin) and a 2025 fifth-round pick (OL Marcus Mbow). With the Giants 2-6, they looked to sell, and Williams entered his final year of a three-year, $63 million extension. Seattle later prioritized him again, signing him to a three-year, $64.5 million deal. The second trade was Oct. 23, 2024, sending Jones to Seattle from the Titans for Jerome Baker and a 2025 fourth-round pick.
