RNLI rescues 25-ft yacht from rocks off the coast of West Cork
xCruzo Brief
The Baltimore RNLI rescued two sailors from a 25-ft yacht after it ran aground on rocks off the coast of West Cork. The call came from the Valentia Coast Guard Marine Coordination Centre at 1.31pm yesterday, with the yacht having two people on board and stranded about four miles from Barlogue Bay. An all-weather lifeboat launched shortly after under Coxswain Aidan Bushe, with mechanic Micheal Cottrell and crew including Jerry Smith, Eoin Ryan, Ollie O’Mahony and Maria Coleman. After boarding at 1.48pm and assessing conditions, the crew towed the yacht free as the tide dropped. Ms Coleman then transferred to assist further, and the vessel reached Baltimore Harbour at 3.20pm.
