Sandy Brondello gives mixed injury updates on Kiki Rice, Brittney Sykes
Toronto Tempo head coach Sandy Brondello shared mixed updates on injuries to Kiki Rice and Brittney Sykes ahead of the team’s final stretch of July. Rookie guard Kiki Rice, the sixth overall pick, has been sidelined since an ankle sprain on June 3, but Brondello said she “looked good” in her first full practice since the injury. She added that the next step would be how Rice responds after practice. All-Star guard Brittney Sykes remains more uncertain after a plantar fascia injury suffered on June 16, with Brondello indicating she likely won’t return in the next “few weeks.” Tempo sits 10–16 through the All-Star break in their inaugural season, and will play Minnesota Lynx in back-to-back games on July 28 in Toronto and July 30 in Minnesota.
