Simrad AutoCaptain Brings Autonomous Docking to Production Boats
xCruzo Brief
Simrad’s new AutoCaptain system is bringing autonomous docking to production boats, positioned as the first such setup created by a company that designs the full chain from steering and propulsion to sensors and multifunction displays. The feature is designed to enable integrated operation across the boat’s systems and support future “over-the-horizon” upgrades. As of now, AutoCaptain is available only on the Boston Whaler 405 Conquest. Brunswick Corporation, which plans to expand the system to other new builds, owns Navico Group—the parent company of Simrad Yachting. The rollout marks a shift toward more automated maneuvering for mainstream powerboat models.
