Six feared dead after 'bizarre' sinking of charter boat off Canadian coast - AOL
A “bizarre” sinking of a fishing charter off Canada’s west coast has prompted a recovery effort after six people were feared dead near Vancouver. Search teams are working after the vessel disappeared into the Georgia Strait around midday Sunday, following reports it had taken on water. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said its underwater team was preparing to search for the boat, which was believed to have carried 10 people before sinking. A yacht crew made the first critical mayday call, pulling stranded passengers aboard. Two survivors, a 33-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, were in critical condition, while a 26-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman were released from hospital. Authorities said none of the passengers had life jackets, and they are investigating whether a collision or other factors were involved.
