Sports News | Portuguese FA Provisionally Suspends Cristiano Ronaldo After National Exit Fiasco
Cristiano Ronaldo received a provisional suspension from the Portuguese football federation after his exit from the Portugal camp during the UEFA Nations League, with disciplinary proceedings opened against the 41-year-old, according to Goal.com. The federation’s disciplinary council suspended Ronaldo on a non-automatic basis and classified the case as “urgent,” following deliberation by its non-professional section. Ronaldo left the national team camp 24 hours before the match against Denmark after he was benched in the previous game versus Norway, despite being instructed to warm up with expectations of playing. The council also applied an additional precautionary suspension and referred the matter to the disciplinary investigation committee, while details remain confidential during the probe. Under federation regulations, Ronaldo faces possible suspension of one to six months and a fine if his departure is deemed unjustified.
