Started underwater fishing - now it's a lucrative business finding treasures
Starting as a hobby of diving to recover lures, a Wisconsin couple has turned underwater fishing into a lucrative venture. Ed and Christie Bieber founded Bieber's Underwater Recovery LLC to clean up lakes and rivers across the Badger State. They began around 2017–2018, and their dives have pulled up items ranging from guns and cash drawers to safes, laptops and hard drives. Among their finds was a Lionel Richie head bust weighing about 20 pounds, recovered from the Wisconsin River in Rhinelander. Ed met Christie after a radio appearance, and the pair now dive together to clear waterways and salvage items. The couple use their platform to promote cleanup and recovery through Bieber's Underwater Recovery LLC. They emphasize that recovery is as much about trash removal as treasure hunting, and they hope their online updates inspire others to pick up litter. Their story highlights a growing interest in underwater cleanup across Wisconsin.
