Stephen Colbert Reportedly 'Hit Hard' by Life After 'The Late Show'
Stephen Colbert’s transition after The Late Show appears difficult, with multiple reports pointing to a hard adjustment after 11 seasons at the CBS desk. A Daily Mail report, citing unnamed sources, says the show had become more than a job and that losing it affected his sense of identity. Colbert and his representatives have not publicly responded to the account. In a May People interview, he said CBS may have “saved my life” by ending the demanding nightly schedule while he still had energy for other projects. CBS announced in July 2025 that the franchise would end in May 2026, with the final broadcast on May 21, 2026, after Colbert took over from David Letterman in September 2015. The Late Show received a final Emmy nomination on July 8.
