Sunsail unveils the winner of its 2026 Funding the Future competition

Sunsail has named Paignton Sailing Club the winner of its 2026 Funding the Future initiative, awarding the club a £6,000 grant during the Southampton International Boat Show on Friday, 18 September. Now in its third year, the program aims to put funding directly into local sailing clubs to boost grassroots participation. This year it drew a record 85 entries, a 35% rise over 2025, with a focus on attracting more women and girls, increasing participation and creating more inclusive environments. Paignton’s proposal, “Mums on the Water,” will fund female-led coaching and beginner-friendly tuition, subsidised to lower barriers, and support progression into wider club roles. Sunsail said total grants have reached £30,000 across 2024–2026 for RYA-affiliated clubs.
